The game features 21 minigames which provide different scenarios for players to overcome. The new control scheme was an effort by developer Yasuhito Baba 'to find a new way for players to experience Super Monkey Ball in order to increase the 'party feel' of the title'. Players can use the Wii Balance Board and shift their bodies to control the monkey ball. There are six worlds, with the addition of one secret world which can be accessed by completing the other six worlds. Players are given four lives to begin with. Like the previous games in the Super Monkey Ball series, players must guide the ball using the Wii Remote to the goal in one minute without losing a life. It was released in February 2010 worldwide. Co-op play is available for two same-screen players, and as many as four may compete in a selection of 21 mini-games that includes 'See Saw Ball,' 'Monkey Race,' and 'Monkey Bowling.Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll is a platform video game developed and published by Sega for the Wii. The game features 70 original levels, designed to offer challenge to players of all skill levels.

In the main modes, the game is played like an oversized puzzle box, challenging gamers to make their way over and around obstacles while maintaining control and avoiding a fall over the edge.

In Step & Roll, players can shift their weight on the balance board to tilt the floor, or use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in a more traditional control scheme. As in earlier installments in the family-friendly franchise, players take control of little monkey characters that are encased inside clear spheres (similar to over-sized hamster balls), which they move by tilting the entire game world floor in the direction they want to roll.
